~ ~ ~ time out ~ ~ ~

Flatwoods Plum blooming in side yard

ok
so i can finally talk.
my throat's been sore
my voice gravely
from coughing too much.

it takes a lot for me to actually go to the doctor.

but after trying all my usual natural healing remedies...
and nothing seemed to be getting rid of this congestion...
my throat was getting sorer
&
my ribs felt mega-bruised!

one of nature's curly-q's

i gave in.

diagnosed - bronchitis.

sent home with antibiotics, an inhaler, cough suppressants
and the suggestion to use a vaporizer at night & get some rest.

two weeks later.
still coughing.  but better.
throat no longer scratchy & ribs don't pain me when breathing!
minimal wheezing.
slowly easing back into work, living on cough drops during the day.

anyway.
i'm taking time off...from here...my blog.

“Sometimes I can hear my bones straining under the weight of all the lives I'm not living.”
~ Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

i feel a weight on my shoulders.
a trapped kind of feeling.
like a slave to the internet at times.
i need
to
get up. get out. feel the sun.
watch the flowers grow. smell them.
spy on the bugs & birds...all the little critters!

listen. take pictures. create more.
so many trails to wander...trees & moons to sit under...
books to read.

the full moon behind Oak tree branch on 23 january 2013

of course i won't be gone forever.
just a hiatus.
time for my soul...my body...
to
BE
to
DO.

“I give thanks for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite,
which is yes.”
~E.E. Cummings

i'll still be wandering out here now & then,
and will visit all the places i love.

take care.
be safe.

  4. *Ouch* I had bronchitis when I was in boot camp, and my goodness I'm pretty sure I coughed out a few chunk of lungs. My ribs, throat and chest were beat up, too.

    Heal. Soon... without rushing.

If blogging for fun begins to feel like a task, run for the hills and take some cute pictures. That's my motto. Actually, my motto is more like run and write something, but I'm always up for change ;-)

I'm glad I can check up on you through Facebook.

Emo looks handsomely fierce. Tell him that I've been looking for one of his cousins to bring home ;-)

  7. Sorry to hear about your coughing fits/bronchitis . . . can wear us down big time. I think you have the flu strain no one needs or wants!

Continue to heal, stop in and visit . . . I will be here and always look forward to seeing your gorgeous photos of the moon, like the one above and some of the "critter shots" too.

Most of all, enjoy the "Time Out" . . .
Enjoying Laura . . . a chance to BE and DO will be the best healing ever . . .
My caring, hugs, love . . . Lynne

  8. So glad you're some better...it takes a while. I was so sore in my ribs from the coughing, I couldn't bend over to tie shoes or put socks on. It was horrible. I, too, ended up going to emergency care-pneumonia! Anyway, the sun and a fresh breeze will do you good. Makes you smile to be out there wandering, and not giving a rat's ass!

Love your blossoms! Take care, and, do come back! Hugs!♥

  12. Take care and get better. I had bronchitis in October and thought I was on the way out. Finally dragged myself to the doctor and the steroid shot knocked out the painful inflammation within a few hours. After that, it was just a matter of getting over the rest of it.

  19. Loving Emo's halloween dance. Hoping you feel better soon. you know that of all people, I know how it feels when you need that little bit of space, when all the obligations just become too much. So take what you need. Be back fully when you are ready. Love and Light.

  23. Do all you can to get better. I know from personal experience that bronchitis can come around and get you again just when you think it's gone. Love all your photos but my favorites are the moon shot and Emo's halloween dance.

  30. I could have sworn I left a comment here, but oh well. Thinking of you, Laura, & hope you are feeling better & enjoying some richly-deserved time "off". This internet can (& does) trap many of us & I think it's important to withdraw from it for a time as often as we can - or choose to. As you can certainly tell, all of us loyal followers support you & wish only the best for you. Come back only when you feel fully recovered and ready - then we know you'll once again enchant us with your unique outlook, photos, & wonderful way with words. Be well!

  31. Dear Laura, I hope you get better soon so you can relax and enjoy time off. Bronchitis is not a simple illness -- after-effects can linger for years if not taken care of. So seriously, be a lazy healing lady whose most strenuous activity is petting Emo!
    Love, Jean
