ch...ch...ch...changes

so many changes.
sam & i have moved. about an hour or so drive of where we were...
to north west Lake City...right next to the tiny town of Wellborn.
there's a pond out back...Indian Pond.
and still lots of lizards, snakes...birds...AND bugs!
(well, we're still in florida...the bug capital)

why the move?
sam's boss wants him to help run the shop...he wanted him to be closer to work.
so he asked if we'd consider moving into this BIG house that the company owns.
BIG, is an understatement.
we could probably fit the trailer in here...3 times over!

emo & otis are adjusting...as are we.
otis??!!  oh yeah...a little orange striped tabby that showed up on our back porch
about a month or so before we moved!
he is now part of the family.
more about him next time!

i'm hoping to get back in the swing of things.
settle into some kind of a routine.
but now i have the drive (to see clients)
and sam just has a fifteen minute drive to work.
that's ok...he did the drive for close to 2 years.

i'll leave you with some pictures...
old-ish...and new-ish.

(gotta get ready to run down to gainesville for appt's...
but i needed to get on here and send out an update!)

emo & otis playing

aaaaaaah...sharing!  (before the move)

the front of 'Indian Pond' house!

Indian Pond...out back...much clearing to do still!

and...
the moon...on a cloudy night...from back in  july.

bear with me if you can.
i will not be a stranger...although i am in a starnge land.
and i am a bit strange myself.

things will fall into place...and i will start to wander blog-land again soon!

things that go bump in the night...

bump,
ribbet,
the silent weaving of webs,
and meow.

as darkness swallows the day
and the moon rises...

the day-time sleepers come out to play
and forage.  munch.

“Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
~ J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

some frogs have learned to hang out by the year-round twinkling porch lights...
anxiously awaiting the unaware bugs the lights attract.

one...two...three.

mmmmmm, midnight snacks.

trekking up the little frog chime...

and then there are the little frogs that choose to stay a bit closer to the ground...
where the toads are.
hmmmm, i guess they prefer the crawling bugs to the flying ones.  meatier?

LOOK OUT FROGS!!
this guy is heading to the porch roof...where the lights are...where the frogs are...
(harmless) yellow rat snake

a couple of silent night-time weavers...

=O=
so...it's taken me over a week to get this post together.
i haven't visited any blogs since my previous post.
ever feel like you take one step forward...and then two back?!
that's me.

i do visit FB more often than i come here lately.
every few days...check my email...stop by FB...post a picture or two.
you can always find me there (link on sidebar).

i'll leave you now with a couple of pretty day-time pic's.

time to peek in...

i'm back.
where have i been?
nowhere in  particular. right here.
living life.
reading books. a lot!
taking pictures. a lot!
enjoying...

a purple passion flower

i've thought about entering blog-land...many times.
but for some reason i just couldn't get motivated to do so.

this morning
emo found a snake in the garden...right by the front steps.
fortunately he (emo) was smart enough to leave it alone!
i did pick him (emo) up and bring him indoors...just to play it safe...
while the  VENOMOUS Moccasin  moves on!

pretty, eh?
(pretty scary too!)

a snake.
it's the year of the snake.
and i was born in a snake year too.
so i thought it an omen!??
today seemed like a good day to poke my head in and say 'hi'.

i want to ease my way in.
one of the reasons i took a blog hiatus, was i started to feel overwhelmed.
now i plan to take it slower.
less often posting...and not trying to read every post of every blog i follow!

so
come on in
and enjoy a few pictures.

tiny tree snail, out back at the edge of the woods.

a Fence lizard

the next two pictures are of STINK BUGS!

stink bug nymphs

Green stink bug

one morning in may...about 7am, i looked out the back door...
and here's what i saw!!  a Barred Owl perched on the bird feeder...looking right at me!!
a Barred Owl

this is one of my favorite dragonfly shots i've taken lately (in june)!
perched on a cactus

a Zebra Longwing - the state butterfly for florida...feeding on lantana

about dem bOnes.
of course i'm still into bones.
finding them. cleaning them. turning them into...art?  jewelry? it all depends...
a hog skull my son travis found for me! =)

another great find!
i'm pretty sure these are Opossum feet!!

ok
the end is near.
ONE more thing to mention.
emo!
he sure has grown!!
and what a personality!

he is a butterfly, dragonfly, mole & mouse chaser.
he is an expert climber,
drinks out of the sink faucet,
and still sucks on our fingers at night.

here he is...deep n thought.

and here he is...passed out in sam's lap.

time flies...like an arrow...

but fruit flies...like a banana.

ha.

it's been a month since i posted.

the full moon has come and gone.
28  feb  2013

i have completely gotten over my bout of bronchitis...
but i'm still on hiatus!

i know i said (in my previous post) that i would be wandering blogland...
visiting all the places i love...
but i haven't.

bad me.

i just can't get motivated to do so.

“Sometimes I can hear my bones
straining under the weight of all the lives I'm not living.”
~ Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

i need more TIME for STUFF...
like reading books (i have read about 5 since my last post)

i need more TIME OUTSIDE...
(temps to freezing at night, in the 60's during the day. aaaaaaah. perfect!)
blossoms on the apple tree we planted in milo's honor

TIME to breathe the fresh air...
and watch for snakes, lizards & bugs...

a Red-banded Hairstreak, on 'milo's apple tree

a Cloudless sulphur resting on the ground's crunchy leaves

a Phaon Crescent soaking up the sun

TIME to listen to the birds...

Red-bellied woodpecker

a PEACEful dove

Pileated woodpecker

TIME to save a dehydrated turtle that wandered into the yard...

i carried him way out back...to the wet & swampy-ish area...
and left him at the edge of the water.

when i went back to check on him later...he was gone!

i've been making more TIME for being creative...

TIME for cleaning found snake bones & making new earrings!

these (and more) are at my etsy shop, but i'm also considering going to a local reptile shop to see if they'd be interested in selling them in their store. BUT i'm a terrible salesperson! SO, truthfully, i'll probably never get around to doing that!

anyway...yep!!   i feel like a deserter...a heel...a stick in the mud!

my first blog post was on 21 april, 2010...
with no real vacation.
i started to feel as though cyberspace was sucking the life out of me.

TIME for change.

so.  i'm still on an extended...time-out.
i  still check  my email...
and i can be spotted on FB now and then.

OH and i almost forgot...emo!!  7 months old on march 16th...

and still a tree hugger & climber!  we take him out for 'walks' regularly!

in the meantime...i hope life is good for all.

(mucho thanks & gratitude to all who left notes of
support & encouragement & understanding on my last post!!)
AND
thanks in advance for sticking it out to the end here today!

take care  &  be safe.
